I've seen so many Etsy shops and Instagram posts that created custom mixtures for skin health and benefits that I wanted to start making my own. It actually all began in desperation with Harlow's eczema. We've been using prescription salex salicylic acid nightly (which legit costs $500 per bottle, so thank sweet Jesus for insurance coverage) and although it has greatly improved her scalp it seems to only act as a band-aid. If we go even a few nights without the lotion routine, the eczema comes right back. (Her condition is technically called Pityriasis Amiantacea (PA), a rare inflammatory disease, but acute eczema is what occurred from it.)
My skin could also use a little help and glow too, because lets face it.. I ain't getting any younger over here and I am ALL over anything that helps with maturing skin. As a mama bear I wanted to test things on myself prior to applying anything on my sweet little babes skin and I thought, why purchase expensive creams, serums or moisturizers that contain some, if not most of these ingredients when I can organically go straight to the source myself. So, I decided to start customizing my own magical mixtures here.
I'm sharing my recipe (attempt?) for healthy skin and the oils included in case you want to be glowy AF too.
Filling a 2oz. amber glass bottle, I use the following:
- Jojoba: non-comedogenic, balances oil production and great for anti-aging
- Hemp: lighter oil great for all skin types/ sensitive skin.
- Rosemary: reduces sebum, firms up the skin and reduces the appearance of dark spots.
- Lemon: natural astringent and antibacterial, contains antioxidants, high in vitamin C, helps tone skin and reduce the appearance of pores, preventing wrinkles by gently exfoliating the skin.
- Vitamin E: provides a ton of moisture and boosts collagen production
I only use 12 drops of EO and top with the carrier oils for a 1% dilution due to being immunocompromised. I made one for my mom too and was able to bump hers up to 2-3%. I also adjusted which EO's I used to cater to her personal skin needs/preferences.
To apply, I place 3-4 drops (a little goes a long way) of this serum to my fingertips and massage into my face and neck nightly and first thing in the AM to support healthy skin and create a soft glow. My next batch I plan to add AgeDefy and Rosehip since it includes pure retinol (vitamin A).

Happy Glowing!
(Disclaimer: I do NOT sell essential oils. Personally, I prefer to order my oils from Eden's Garden. I've done a lot of research on several oil distributors and I valued Eden's Garden transparency and honesty. They are not a MLM company and their prices are crazy reasonable for the oils being unadulterated, free of synthetics and pure therapeutic grade. I always refer to their site for oil use and safety information.)
Lastly, this specific post from them is hugely informative: There's NOT an oil for that: Top essential oil mistakes to avoid
