Brody's Bearded Dragon

March 31, 2019

Never imagined I'd be sharing this introduction, but here we are. I was a little caught off guard when Brody asked for a bearded dragon. Although it was really cute that both him and Harlow questioned if they were able to breathe fire. My first response was "ehh..", but the more I thought about it, the more I thought why not? I grew up having creatures and I think an interest in reptiles and proper handling of them is good.

Meet, Echo.
He's just a tiny little thing.

I've done a ton of research on these guys because I tend to over analyze the shit out of choices I make, impulsively or not. Jesse is always the rational one in our marriage but I think by now he's learned to have a little faith (and trust) in some of my outlandish decisions because of my tendency to research. I really try to go into something informed even if I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

(also, a special thanks babe for cutting Echo's terrarium slates on your Saturday off, because I'm sure figuring out a lizards flooring is just what you wanted to do. lol)

Look at that smile and excitement. He hand picked Echo himself. Bearded dragons are actually really good beginner reptile pets. They are incredibly docile, friendly and to my surprise, affectionate. I can't promise you I'll be cuddling this thing on the daily but I do enjoy watching him already. Live meal worm feedings and all. I mean look at that shed, he's like a brand new dragon today.

We went with a dinosaur-themed terrarium (and name: Jurassic World) because he looks so much like a velociraptor as a baby beardie.  Come to think of it, we've got a Blu, Echo and Charlie now - maybe a Delta will be next? (kidding Jesse, kidding) Although I do swear Charlie and Blu were not named after Chris Pratt's raptor squad as much of a dinosaur fan as I am - but I'm not gonna lie this is all an amazing coincidence.

I have to admit, I'm enjoying the unicorn & dragon life over here. I'll be sure to share Echo's growth over on IG if you wanna follow along with lizards and shit.
